This list is all too true. I think that way too many companies lack the empathy and understanding needed to be a social business and are wasting time and effort pursuing trying to achieve their goals when they should be devoting effort to understanding social networking first. Too many companies think you can guarantee success by trying out Facebook ads or the types of companies at http://www.buyfacebookfansreviews.com to essentially buy fans, but the reality is that building up a solid community takes some time and you have to offer people something that they value in order to get ahead on social media. This is where the down economy is screwing over a lot of companies that would ordinarily be hiring some actual social business experts and getting great results from that. In an effort to cut costs, too many companies are doing things themselves without any expertise and essentially knee-capping their entire social strategy.

As much as I agree, I disagree. Where or what websites did you look to find homes? Often times we Realtors are not in charge of every online ad or listing that is put out there. I hope you looked at a site that came straight from their MLS were agents would have the ability to upload pictures (for my MLS, up to 16 pictures, a virtual tour or one link), with about 3 lines of description. Consider the sites or sources you were looking at first--post that in the blog. Then I won't have as many mixed feelings. I do the best I can do market my properties-including paying a professiona photographer to take GREAT pics on a $150,000 townhome in my area Virginia Beach, well below our average price. Guess what-it sold in less than one week! So you do have some good points

The ideas and tips you have suggested are extremely innovative - derived from some good old fashion "out of the box thinking.

Wonderful post. I especially loved the part with the RASMs - so many companies do that and so many people on management positions actually think that posting a Facebook update or a tweet is "Social media strategy".

I agree with you Jean. It's hard for biz's to see it takes proper planning. I think it's much because it's so easy to throw up a Facebook page or Twitter account. However, that's the easy part.

The fact that I am ecstatic about a quick response to a problem stopping me from spending $400 with a company is sad.
